CAVEBLASTER+ Boxed Edition (Game, System: Atari XL/XE, Format: Disk)

product description

I shall now quote some of the trilingual instructions:

Can you be a real cave pilot?<br>

Welcome to Caveblaster+, a new challenge to help the universe. Your mission is to explore the cave of QA. Even the finest cave pilots have failed in the caves of QA. The objetive of the game is to be Mr. Spiff, a hero in the history of space exploration. Quickly get yourself into the underground world of QA!

This game has been programmed by a productive member of the Atari 8-bit scene. Holger Bommer also manages the ABBUC Bundesliga. I have much respect for people such as Holger who supports our system, as I also respect anyone else who is active or passive in the Atari 8-bit scene.

The game was developed in Turbo Basic and has the charm of a type-in listing. Do not consider that as poor, because this game is a very positive contribution and has great gameplay. Despite the simplicity and a simple to understand game mechanic, the game is enthralling from the start to the finish.

The player's task is to fly through the ever narrowing caves. In the way of you completing your mission are plenty of walls, asteroids and narrow areas to navigate through. You can control your ship by moving from left, right or using the fire button to give yourself a little speed boost. This is limited in that it can only be used 9 times per round.

This all sounds quite easy but you'll end up addicted to this in trying to do just a little better the next time. I spent all night trying to get a new high score, but the highest rank of "Bigblaster" still remains elusive for me.<

Sikor has revised the game to add an editor to allow you to set out your own caves as you would like it to be laid out.
